STEPHEN MINISTRY
PROMOTION TEAM BUILDS AWARENESS
By: Linda
McIntyre
I love this church!
Thanks to the talents of several dedicated
and willing servants, Stephen Ministry now has a
Bulletin Board in the narthex to focus on the
ministry we hope to have up and running by spring
of 2009, and a banner hanging in the Sanctuary.
Much thanks to Erica Yoder and Amanda Stover
(the “Judge Sisters”) who created the
beautiful “Planting Seeds of Love” bulletin
board (May) displaying our official documents of
our becoming a Stephen Congregation and providing
general information about this vital caring
ministry to people in need.
Shortly after our initial request for it, the
Stephen's Ministry Banner appeared with much
appreciation going to Harriet Keck, for not only
her beautiful work but also completion way ahead
of our expectation. (You are priceless!)
Many thanks also to Dee Grieb and Todd Murray
who put their professional artistic talents
together to create the “Just Take a Step”
bulletin board (June) encouraging us to consider
bringing the love of Jesus to someone in need by
following His footsteps as we walk along beside
them.
I hope you also read the inspiring article in
the June Newsletter written by Sharon Bigenho, as
a personal testimony of how Stephen Ministry
affected the lives of her family as they faced the
untimely death of her younger brother, Mark.
Thank you, Sharon, for your willingness to
share your story with all of us to show how
Stephen Ministry does make a difference.
In Romans 12:6 Paul writes, “Having then
gifts differing according to the grace that is
given to us, let us use them.”
Not everyone can create attractive bulletin
boards, or make beautiful paintings, or banners,
or write articles that touch us so deeply, but God
has given each of us talents and gifts and life
experiences we can share.
Perhaps God will give you an opportunity to
change your ashes into beauty. Is He calling you to Stephen Ministry? Please keep this ministry in your prayers.

HARRIET KECK CHURCH
CUSTODIAN RETIRES
By: Ed McGinn
Harriet Keck, our church custodian for thirty
years (or more) is retiring at the end of June.
We, as a church, want to
wish her well and to say “Thank You”
for her dedicated years of service.
So, on July 13, following the 10:00 AM
worship service, we will get together in Wesley
Hall for a Celebration Luncheon.
It will be a simple affair, but one that
will allow us to personally thank Harriet for her
many years of service here at the Holiday Park
United Methodist Church.
There is a sign-up list in the narthex for
those who would like to attend Harriet’s
celebration on July 13th in Wesley Hall.
Your “sign-up” is appreciated so that
we can plan accordingly.

THANK YOU HARRIET
By:
Reed Clarke
On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the
Holiday Park United Methodist Church, we would
like to thank you for your 31 years of dedicated
service to the church. We are quite sure you are
looking forward to your retirement.
We also cannot thank you enough for all that
you have done in maintaining the church’s
facility by being committed, responsible and
passionate about your work.
The evidence can be seen in the appearance
of the church. It was certainly appreciated when you always kept
everyone aware of what was taking place in church
relative to the facility and its operation.
You will be extremely missed and very hard to
replace. It
was nice of you to want to make certain people
permanent trustees.
Would you be willing to do the same?
We wish you well as you move on to other
things.
Warmest personal regards,
Board of Trustees, HPUMC

THANK YOU MARK and
WILSON RESTORATION
By: Reed Clarke
On behalf
of the Board of Trustees of Holiday Park United
Methodist Church, I would like to thank you and
Wilson Restoration for your generous contribution
of time, talent and material in re-pointing and
caulking the limestone joints of the church’s
sanctuary roof.
It was certainly unexpected, but deeply
appreciated.
I will be
taking the time to call this to the attention of
both the Finance Committee and the Administrative
Board of the church at our next meeting.
I took the
time to personally look at the work completed and
this, I am sure, will solve the many minor leaks
we were experiencing in the sanctuary and narthex
ceilings.
With the
sincerest of appreciation,
Reed
Clarke, President
Board of Trustees, HPUMC

TRUSTEE REPORT TO THE
CONGREGATION
BY: Reed
Clarke.
The major project of sealing the sanctuary
faceted glass panels was finally completed on
Monday, June 2nd by Associated
Crafts.
This all started in early January when a
number of members of the congregation noticed
stains on the faceted glass panels behind the
cross in the sanctuary.
After examination, it was determined that
the grouting around the panels, both inside and
out, had deteriorated to the point that both air
and water had easy access to the inside causing a
staining of the sand and epoxy base holding the
glass. Over
the next several months, five bids were studied
and reviewed, which included everything from
repair to total replacement. In April, Associated Crafts from Gilbert, Arizona was
chosen to install a storm window on the outside to
cover the entire glass panels, with caulking and
painting to be completed both on the interior and
exterior.
Total cost of the project was $5,980.00,
with an unconditional 10-year guarantee and
assurance that it would probably last up to 75
years.
Some additional cleaning of the interior
panels was done, with additional cleaning to be
completed at a later date.
Any volunteers?
Please check it out.
If we didn’t mention it, it was possible you
would never know the storm window was there.
The rear porch and roof on the parsonage have
been removed and plans are to replace it with a
new screened in porch and paved patio.
By the time you read this, it may be
completed.
Thank you to Scott Rubright and Phil
Cassel.
New windows in much of the church’s
educational wing, offices, library, and choir room
should begin any day now.
Thanks to Chuck Wetmore and Kensington
Windows Inc.
Chapel roof repairs are near completion.
Trustees and Hooper Roofing.
A decision on whether to replace the existing
boilers with new high efficiency boilers is near
finalization. One boiler is 48 years and the other is 38 years old.
The parsonage and church grounds were
beautified.
Thanks to Karen Smith, Bernie Ogline, Dave
Thoma, Gloria Becker, Bob Stockman and Betty
Lawence.
If you get the chance, please thank a trustee.
They are a great group of people.
