STEPHEN MINISTRY

Stephen Ministry is a high-commitment, high-reward ministry.  The benefits to our Stephen Ministers, our congregation, and, most importantly, our care-receivers at this level of commitment are amazing.  The investment of time, skills, and energy has produced personal satisfaction that more than compensates and justifies the time spent in training.

Stephen Ministry is an extension of the pulpit, putting caregivers in place for those needing someone with which to share their situations.

So many testimonies of Stephen Ministers have been published, but the one that that stands out is; “I signed up as a Stephen Minister to serve others, but what I have found is that I received much more from my care receiver, my fellow Stephen Ministers and Leaders, and my growing relationship with God than I ever imagined”.  In other words, they got a whole lot more from Stephen Ministry than they ever put into it…and that includes the training commitment.  The comments from our own Stephen Ministers are similar.  It has been rewarding and fulfilling to be able to help and share the needs that are brought to the Stephen Ministers.

The Holiday Park United Methodist Church has trained four Stephen Ministry Leaders, which includes Pastor Joel Garrett.  All of our Leaders have become Stephen Ministers.  We have also trained an additional nine Stephen Ministers.
